I ( Renee) rescued Sammy Jo from Amish in Canajoharie, NY, who thought shooting their dogs would be better than having to deal with people who were not Amish. He said this a few times. Please keep this in mind if you, come across Amish selling dogs as to what might happen to the dogs once they have been over bred. It took a lot of communication back and forth with a lady that works for them and was trying to help find homes for the 7 dogs. Finally I got the okay to go to the Amish farm to visit Sammy Jo. Upon my visual of her, Sammy's ears are hard and both have infections so bad that they are almost closed up. She needs to have her ears cleaned and right now she is being treated with antibiotics for them since her vet visits that we took her to. The Amish lanced her ear thinking it would help.( It makes me cry, the pain she must have felt) From shaking her head, it caused broken blood vessels because of the infection that was not treated and caused such discomfort, that the scaring will be permanent. Both of her eyes need surgery to repair her lids before this issue creates ulcers from the eyelids rubbing the eyeballs. All this information is from two veterinarians that evaluated and begun treating Sammy Jo since I rescued her from the Amish. She was over bred and will also need to be spayed. Vet bills total over $2000.00 not counting the $ 290.00 for the first two vets. We did find a vet that has offered to help and give his time and staff at a rate we could not even have imagined. We are above and beyond grateful and feeling truly blessed for this vet that has offered to help lower the cost of Sammy Jo's care. He did however, mention that sometimes the eyes will need surgery a few times to correct this issue. I have been to the sheriffs office and filed a complaint. I was able to locate the other dogs with help and they are at shelters and also have health issues. My friend Erika has Sammy Jo now and we are working as a team to get Sammy Jo her treatment so she can enjoy her new life with Erika who she loves. When I see Sammy Jo, she comes to me with such happiness and love in her eyes at me as if, she is thanking me. No need for thank yous Sammy, it is our job to love all Gods creatures.
Even if you, are not able to donate would you PLEASE share this post to help Sammy Jo. Thank you!!
