UPDATE: Nemo is recovering! It seems all will be well. The bills are far beyond what I could afford but I was able to get Care Credit. I am stopping the fundraiser and thank everyone for their support! Nemo has IMHA (Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia) in which his body attacks his red blood cells. With medication and care, he will recover. > Original post: I adopted my dog, Nemo, in May 2018 after my Scootie passed last December from kidney failure. Scoot was over 17 years old. Nemo is almost 10 but he is a vibrant and lovable pup. But now he is sick. I couldn't save Scoot but I am hoping my friends will help me save Nemo.

Latest Update

It seems Nemo is bleeding internally. He is anemic. Today we went to the vet and did blood work and x-rays. Nothing showed up. Tomorrow I will take him to the emergency clinic where he may need an ultrasound and a transfusion and hopefully they will find the bleeding so it can be stopped. I am hopeful that all will be well but although I have taken on more work, the cash flow has not increased yet and I need funds to move since my property owner will move herself into my current home on December 1. I know this is a bad time and many people throughout the Carolinas and Florida need our support but I am not asking for donations. I am asking my friends to loan some funds to me so I can do everything possible to save my little Nemo. If you can contribute, please include your name and email so I can pay you back. It will take me some time so please have patience but I will make sure everyone receives their contribution in return. I don't know what we are in for. I will know more tomorro

I am stopping the fundraiser and thank everyone for their support! Nemo has IMHA (Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia) in which his body attacks his red blood cells. With medication and care, he will recover. My Mom paid for his first vet visit, the Care Credit will cover the emergency clinic, treatment and medicines and the funds that I collected in GoFundMe and from Amy B. will go toward the follow-up appointment and blood work. I hope that will be everything. Now I will just have to work hard to get everything paid back. Thank you all for caring about him and me!

  • Shelley Patterson36 weeks ago Nemo update: He is doing well and responding to the transfusion and treatment very well! His blood count is up and he is eating well and poop is back to normal. I won't go see him today but if all goes well with the oral meds tonight, I will pick him up up tomorrow. I am hopeful that with some meds he will be back to normal. No surgery or other invasive procedures are needed, thank goodness. Hopefully he will be back to being his crazy little self soon!
  • Shelley Patterson36 weeks ago Nemo update: I missed a call from the clinic but message says Nemo may have this. I don't know more. Will find out tomorrow. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/autoimmune-hemolytic-anemia-in-dogs
  • Shelley Patterson36 weeks ago Nemo update: Nemo is at the emergency care center and will stay for 24-48 hours. They will stabilize him, may do a transfusion and will do the tests that will hopefully tell us where and why he is bleeding. I am working at the Dolphins game tomorrow then will go by the clinic for a visit and to get an update. I was able to get care credit to cover this round. I will keep the fundraiser open until I find out if there will be more expenses and how much. It broke my heart to leave him there. He must think he is being dumped again but I hope he knows by now that I always come back and when I do, there will be tons of hugs and kisses! Thank you all for your support.
