This fundraising is for medical treatment and rehoming of our dog Lucas. He has developed anxiety to a level that is not safe. He has been breaking out windows to escape when we leave the house, and has returned with some nasty injuries. He has been hit by a car & attacked by coyotes after these escapes. The umderlying reasons for this anxiety level are multifaceted & just getting worse in his current situation.
It is interesting all the varying opinions on what one should do with an imperfect dog. We have always stood firm on being an advocate for him. We love & respect Lucas so much, and are trying to do all we can to ensure that his life becomes a good life again. A better life even!
After extensive research and talks with our veternarian, we know what type of environment & treatment Lucas needs to get through this. We found that place for him! It is in rural Arizona with a trustworthy & extremely physically active member of our family. Exercise & space outdoors is key for Lucas. There is more on a long list of positives, but most important is that we will not have to worry that he ended up with someone who doesn’t respect his nature.
Furthermore, being a family member, we will still get to give advice, and keep in touch with Lucas for the rest of our lives, which is very important to my kids.
This has not only been emotionally challenging but financially as well. The money that we raise will go toward medical treatment of Lucas’s most recent injuries, behavioral modification consultation, and car rental & gas for the long trek to his new safe & happy home.
Thanks for reading this and considering helping Lucas out.
