Thank you for reading baby Basil's story. It began about 3 weeks ago when Basil was taken to the emergency Vet and was sent home with medications, there was no sign of tumor on imaging. The medications helped for a while, but eventually Basil began to resume vomiting and diarrhea. We took her back to the Vet and it was initially assumed she had a large hernia as cancer would be extremely rare in such a young pupper. Unfortunately, it is not a hernia and is indeed a large, inoperable tumor in her chest that is compressing blood vessels and initially we were told to consider her level of comfort. We are fortunate enough that her vet was able to find an oncologist willing to perform radiation, her only chance at this point. We, Denise & James, have had Basil since she was 8 weeks old and she turned 1 on February 20th of this year. She is our sweet, “good girl good girl,” our “Baby Basilina Ballerina.” Our hearts are shattered and never thought we would consider saying goodbye for many happy years. Words cannot begin to describe how sweet she is to everyone she meets. If you are lucky enough to meet her you'd know how happy, friendly, and gentle she is, and have definitely been coaxed into lot's of belly rubs, her favorite. She is now struggling with this and we are pursuing every option, unfortunately these are costly. We have struggled to ask for help but this is for Basil, and she wants to stay around for more belly rubs. Please help support our happy girl in any way you can. Again, thank you so much for considering your contribution to our baby girl.
