Please help my beloved Tux. He is a Chihuahua Mix (mostly Chihuahua with a little bit of pug), that I rescued from a shelter when he was 10 months old. It was love at first sight! I loved Tux and he instantly loved me in return. Tux was quick at learning basic commands and is now learning commands to support my mental health conditions. One of my favorite commands is “Hug.” I say “hug” and he jumps on to my lap and extends his front legs up to my neck or shoulder and bows down. It’s heaven for me when he hugs!! Now that Tux is at the age of two, he supports my daily emotional needs. We train at home and soon he will meet the certification of “Service Dog” and be registered as such. When I first rescued Tux, I had taken him into my vet for his complementary exam. In this examination, I was told, Tux has luxating patella (in short – LP) in both hind legs/knees and in some cases, this condition may correct itself - but not for sweet Tux. Recently Tux has been exhibiting pain in his right leg by limping and holding his leg completely up when it hurts more than usual. Recent examination shows LP in both knees and needs surgery. His right knee is much worse than his left knee. There are 5 grades of LP, 1 – being nothing to worry about, up to 5 – being the worse and most painful of all. Tux is at grade 4 which means surgery to correct. The plan is to medically correct his right knee first followed by the left knee. Estimated costs are $3,000.00 per knee.

Tux means the world to me, there is absolutely no way I can live without him, at this time. I have a multitude of health problems and we are working together on the road to recovery; It’s a slow road but Tux is always by my side to help. I can’t accept to think that money for the surgery could take him from me. Stress is already beginning to take a toll on my mental health. Right now, as I write this, Tux is on my lap with his head against my chest! He’s the best, most caring and sweetheart of a dog that I’ve ever had.

ALL donations will be paid to the veterinarian for Tux’s surgeries. With your help, we can see Tux receives the surgeries so he can accomplish my needs of his support. I am asking for: Surgery for Tux’s Right Knee, approx. $3,000. And another $3,000.00 for the Left Knee. Thank you. Donations can be made directly to the veterinarian that will be performing the surgery. For information on how to do this, please contact me directly at tux@doglover.com
