We are all taken aback when Kim had a brain aneurysm (hemorrhagic stroke) the morning of December 2nd in her and Barry's home.

Unfortunately, Kim does not have health insurance. Our family will be utilizing this funding solely for recovery costs: rehabilitation, therapy and resources post stroke.

She is loved by so many for her infectious personality. She is such a strong woman, her big heart and fiesty sass have been felt all over the hospital. She has quickly become a favorite amongst hospital staff! Her room showcases all the love and positivity you have wrapped her in and we cannot thank our community enough for the moral support.

We are so grateful for her medical team. Over the last three weeks, she has undergone a few surgical procedures to stabilize her brain after the aneurysm and continues to move toward recovery at Sacred Heart Hospital.

The focus over the next 6+ months will be physical, occupational and speech therapy in inpatient and outpatient settings. She has made great progress so far and your contributions will support Kim on her road to recovery and rehabilitation.

We have done our best to estimate the recovery financial support needed. We greatly appreciate and are truly humbled by every ounce of positive thought, prayer, time and support all of you share with us.

Thank you for loving our lady,

Barry & Kelsey

We have chosen Plumfund as all the contributions will go to her recovery (no additional fees are incurred by the family)

Latest Update

Thank you for your support. The last two months have been a rollercoaster and the support means so much. Mom's aneurysm on 12/2 was coiled (secured) at 80% with the plan for a pipeline stint (common procedure). Mom was back to 85% of herself and in Rehab when on 1/1 the other 20% of the aneurysm re- bled. We came back to Sacred Heart Hospital and the aneurysm was fully secured. Mom was recovering and was back to herself: walking the halls, full of sass and making friends with everyone. Then on 1/13, one of the intervention methods (an external drain) was removed to allow her to be discharged. When the drain was removed, it hit an artery and created a bleed on the other side of her brain. We are so grateful that she continues to make progress every day! She is so strong and continues to be on the road to recovery! My dad and I moved into Martha's Vineyard, a non profit B&B, for families with loved ones in the hospital. -Kelsey & Barry

Kim enjoyed Christmas with extended family at the Rehabilitation Facility, we are so lucky to have family that travels to all be together! She is doing SO well in Rehab, and we are all grateful for the foundation she has to build on over the coming months. Her team is focused on balance, coordination and word retrieval. They are working her HARD, with 3-4 hours a day focused on speech, occupational and physical therapy. We are so grateful for all of your support and the community that our family and Kim has. We are with her every step of the way and she is so positive and motivated (& ready to get home and see her dogs). We wish all of you a very Happy New Year! -Kelsey & Barry

A Christmas Miracle indeed!!! How wonderful!

Mom is doing great today, she is now on the Neuro floor and no longer in the ICU. We are working on a puzzle together, with football on in the background of course. :) Doctors are very happy with where she is at and she is very happy to have all the family in town for Christmas.
