Hi y'all,

2020 has been quite the year. Record-setting unemployment, a global pandemic, civil and political unrest, murder hornets, even the bubonic plague is trying to rear its ugly head again. While this strange and stressful year has undoubtedly touched the lives of virtually everyone in one way or another, its impacts have had more dire consequences for some. Unfortunately, my baby sister and her boyfriend have been hit hard.

If you know Claire, you know that her work ethic, empathetic heart, and cut-through-the-BS-and-solve-the-problem resolve have enabled her to be financially independent from a young age. At just 21, Claire has lived on her own for over 3 years. As many do, she's seen her fair share of hard, paycheck-to-paycheck, shoestring budget times. And if you know Claire, you know that she's always figured it out. She doesn't like to ask for help. In fact, she all but refuses to.

If you know Blaic, you know that he is a very personable, passionate, persistent son of a B. He loves Claire and their two dogs intensely, and after recently finishing up college and earning a Bachelor's degree, he landed a great job with a real estate company.

Both of them have grinded to get where they're at in life, with no shortage of obstacles along the way. Shortly after Blaic got his new job, the pandemic hit. Luckily he was able to keep the job, but because its heavily commission-based, the pandemic saw to it that his faction of the real estate industry would all but grind to a halt. Claire goes above and beyond at her job, which is also heavily commission-based. And while the pandemic didn't completely wipe out her commission, it was slowed to a crawl.

To make matters worse, they'd recently adopted one of their two rescues, and that puppy has had so many trips to the vet that some people would've just given up on him. But Claire and Blaic didn't - they don't give up, it's not in their nature.

2020, however, has decided it'd like to really, really test their resiliency. To add insult to injury, Blaic was recently hospitalized and our flawed healthcare system slapped them with some huge medical bills.

But wait, there's more. Claire started showing symptoms within the last couple of weeks and had to get tested for the coronavirus. Her first test came back negative, but she was convinced it was a false negative, and she was right. A second test showed she was positive for COVID19, and as a result both she and Blaic are forced to quarantine.

To make a long story short, 2020 has hit Claire and Blaic. HARD. Multiple necessary extensive vet visits + ER & hospital dues + loss of commission on both of their commission-heavy jobs = bills and loss of income to the tune of exactly $29,842.

And while neither Claire nor Blaic are the type to ask for help, sometimes you just need it, so I'm asking for them.

If you can afford to, please consider contributing whatever you can to help get them back on their feet. Anything and everything is much appreciated.
