Yesterday morning, a recent ENMU music alumna living in Clovis was preparing to take her infant son to daycare and head to her job as a SpEd teacher. It was a cool morning, so she started her car and, just as she went back in the house to get her son, someone jumped in her vehicle and drove away. Although the vehicle was spotted by the police in Melrose, it eluded the pursuing authorities. In the car was her son's new car seat, her purse (which contained her SS card, military dependent ID, credit card and checkbook), her iPad and other valuable items. Her husband, a USAF veteran, is currently not employed, as the family has been planning a move for a few months. As a young couple living on one income, this is a real financial hardship to them. While their insurance will help in some ways, their losses will not be fully covered. With a small lead gift, I hope some ENMU alumni and friends are able to step forward in a small way and, with several of us contributing, that we can help them in this transitional hard time in their lives. In an effort to protect their identity while some of their means of identification are in the hands of criminals, I am intentionally not posting the name of this family. Thank you.
