Hi, I’m not very good at this, in asking for help but unfortunately I’m left with no other options. I am asking for help as a jumpstart, so I can find a nice place for myself and children and possibly pay more to my attorney so I’m not going to trial without one.
My husband had an affair 2 years ago and we are now going through the nasty divorce process. His priorities became his girlfriend and wouldn’t come home for weeks. He stayed away for over 7 months straight and didn’t even make the time to see our son for his birthday. There was one day during that time, in which he came to the house for 5 minutes to get his dog. Soon after he left I came to the realization that I was now a single mother of 5 children. I had 4 children from a previous marriage. My divorce trial is coming up in November and myself and the children are currently still in the house we moved to shortly before my husband ran off. I do have an attorney, however, she continues to threaten me with quitting as my payments to her aren’t substantial enough for her taste. Unfortunately, she was supposed to file a motion for the taxes as my husband signed my name and claimed my older children for the past 2 years without my permission, also against the temporary order, but my attorney refuses to do anything despite saying she’d do that over 3 months ago. Since then I’ve been working here and there when I can as an in home caregiver, but with daycare costs $76/week for about 6 hours a week the costs are almost the same as my paycheck each week. Since learning about the affair I started writing a book as a way of healing and have also had the desire to figure out something helping other women and children who are suffering hardships due to infidelity and divorce. I’m at the beginning stages of that idea but most everything has been put on hold due to the process of this divorce. I had hoped it would’ve been done during the summer, but sadly, it got pushed off until a week before Thanksgiving. I’d love nothing more to get out of this house, and begin fresh, somewhere new, but unfortunately the money has been tied up in the divorce.
First and foremost, I’d like to move as soon as I get enough money for a security deposit and rent, so I can move and the current house can be put up for sale. I’d love to purchase a house, however I’m realistic with the idea of that being a future goal.
Secondly, I’d like help with my attorney costs, I’ve unfortunately overextended myself as a part of this in paying her the ridiculous fees, and am anticipating a few thousand more of spending towards this custody and property division process. I understand everyone goes through difficult times and know ultimately things will work out and I hate having to ask for help but I don’t have any family or friends that are able to help me through. This past 3 years have been very difficult for myself and my children, and we are finally getting to the point where things are pointed in the right direction. Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated, and I do plan on doing positive things for others going through the same as I get a new start. Thank you in advance
