Hello dear friends! I’d love your help for my birthday :)
Long-story-short:
I’m too broke to replace my dead laptop and also pay taxes in time, so I’m starting my first-ever fundraiser trying to get $20 from 50 friends to help me crowdfund a new laptop for my birthday this Sunday! :)
Short-story-long:
As Facebook will soon remind you, my 26th birthday is this Sunday, April 11th. I’ll be celebrating with my family where I grew up in Merida, Mexico. My parents and I both work in tourism (they have a small hotel, and I do walking tours in NYC) which means we haven’t had much income for over a year.
I started freelance copywriting last summer, which is luckily making me enough to survive month-to-month. However, my only work tool, my old 2014 Macbook Pro, died suddenly a month ago. I’ve been struggling on borrowed laptops since, but I desperately need a new one and somehow have to pay for it and do my taxes with less under 2k in the bank. I have plenty of work ahead with copywriting, but I can’t do any of it without a decent laptop.
I am setting up a personal fundraiser for the first time in my life. My main goal is to get 50 friends to throw me $20 for my birthday. Any donations are highly appreciated and will make my birthday, work-life, and lockdown all infinitely more pleasant.
If you find yourself unable to donate because you’re enduring financial hardship, I completely understand. You can still help me for free by liking this post and commenting to keep it afloat on everyone’s timeline :)
If you have Zelle, let me know. Otherwise, my Plumfund fundraiser allows you to donate with credit, debit, or PayPal from anywhere with lower fees than GoFundMe.
If you know me, you know I’ll find a way to make it up to you sooner than later, but for now, thank you for your time and effort :)
