Hey y'all! Most of you already know I'm having a baby and to be honest, there has been more negativity than support for me and my partner in this journey (although the love def outshines the hate). This year has been one of many changes and growing. In line with that theme I'd like to announce that we will be making a big move come January to Puerto Rico (my home). Part of the reason for this move is to introduce our baby to their Puerto Rican roots and to make it easier for me to teach them Spanish. Another significant reason is that I'd like to raise a child that is confident in their blackness and is surrounded by people they can see themselves in, which is something my partner and I both struggled with growing up in the states. This move comes at a difficult time for the island and I am fully aware that this journey will not be an easy one, but it feels like a necessary and powerful one nonetheless. To add to that, we will be leaving with only our clothes and maybe some books. We have very little saved up for the move and will be couch surfing until we find an apt and employment (while growing a human). Since it would not benefit us to have a baby shower and receive gifts we can't take with us on our trip, we are asking for financial help to start over and prepare ourselves for this baby and their needs as well as my medical needs since we will be entrusting my care to a midwife when we arrive to Puerto Rico. Any help is greatly appreciated as we embark on this kinda terrifying yet super exciting journey💜💜💜
