Schatzi’s Hospital Bills

Schatzi has a very rare disease called Sialadenosis. It causes swelling of the salivary glands, and it ended up also causing pneumonia and issues with her liver. Her disease is responding to medicine, but the remaining issue is the pneumonia. If they take her off of oxygen support too soon, she won’t make it. She just needs help pulling through this very critical point.

Other than her pneumonia, she is a healthy, vibrant dog. Your help allows me to keep providing treatment. Thank you❤️

Latest Update

Schatzi continues to show improvement. She has another checkup on Tuesday. They will take xrays of her chest to see if her pneumonia is getting better. 🙏🏼

Schatzi getting some rest. She doesn’t have a lot of energy, but the vet says I should start seeing a gradual improvement within a few days. You can see all the areas she was shaved for testing💔 I’m so grateful she is home. ❤️

For the sake of transparency, here is the page showing the total of her most recent hospital bill. I will post her other bills as well showing that everything comes to well over $5,000. Thank you again for all of your help. Schatzi and I truly appreciate it!❤️

Schatzi is finally home❤️ She is not out of the woods yet. The specialist has only seen two cases of her disease in twenty years. The other case unfortunately didn’t make it💔 So, today is a wonderful day, but please keep the prayers coming!🙏🏼

Update: Schatzi is resting comfortably in her oxygen tank. They increased her antibiotics and steroids, and it seems to be helping a bit. Every time they take her out to potty, she grabs her toy bunny I brought her and takes it with her.❤️ She’s currently stable, but they are cautious because pneumonia can take a turn at any point. Unfortunately, I can’t visit her today because it’s best for her to rest and stay on oxygen. If anything starts declining, they will call me. Otherwise, the doctor will call me in the morning with an update. So, let’s pray I don’t receive any calls tonight. 🙏🏼

This was given to me when I visited yesterday. At that point, my bill was a little over 3K. However, with the additional 36 hours she needs to stay in the hospital, the bill will be $4,744. All of that is on top of the $1,000 I spent on exams and testing earlier this week at her normal vet. I never want to be put in a situation where I am forced to euthanize her due to financial restrictions. So, anything and everything helps! Even prayers! Thank you so much!

These are the additional charges for another day in the hospital. They are in addition to the estimate posted earlier.

This is the original estimate I was given on day one. This includes all of the testing they had to do in order to figure out what is wrong.

Schatzi has now been in the hospital since Wednesday afternoon. I spoke to the vet this morning, and they feel it is too risky to take her off of oxygen at this point. They want to keep her an additional 36 hours and reassess her progress at that point. Please keep praying that Schatzi pulls through! <3
