We found two kittens (brother and sister) abandoned on someone’s deck. We took them to our veterinarian who gave us the sad news that both kittens suffer from eyelid agenesis. This means their upper eyelids aren’t developed. Over time, hair will constantly rub their eyes eventually leading to ulcers and blindness. There is no single treatment that will ensure their eyes can be saved. One option is to use liquid nitrogen and freeze away the hair above their eyes. The procedure is called cryogenic epilation. Multiple treatments may be necessary costing up to a thousand dollars per eye. Please help with whatever you can to make sure these kittens don’t go blind.
