Juliet is a sweet, energetic 6 year old Staffy who loves walks, hikes, and everyone she meets. She’s a first-rate snuggler (15/10) and is one of our very best friends. She tore her CCL while playing with friends - the injury requires surgery and rehab to allow her to run and play again without pain. We knew it would be expensive, but when we were told that surgery would cost over $4000 we were stunned! She is young, and we want her to have the best life - so we are moving forward with the surgery mid-April and are trying to raise as much as we can to cover costs. Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated. We will keep everyone updated on Juliet’s progress below!

Latest Update

Juliet is home from surgery with a shaved leg and some new metal parts! Bruising and swelling is normal this first week or so, meds, physical therapy and icing on the agenda. She's happy she doesn't have to wear a collar unless we're not around - hurray! Thank you again to everyone that has donated!

How the injury happened: We were visiting one of Juliet’s favorite places, woods where she hikes and plays with some of her doggo friends, when we noticed her holding her right back leg in the air. After a few days with no improvement we took her to our vet, West Lanc. Animal Hospital. They determined that she had strained her CCL (like an ACL in humans) and prescribed meds along with 6-8 weeks of rest. We started to carry her up and down stairs, and stopped the walks and hikes she loves. Toward the end of the rest period we had high hopes, even thinking she was getting better, and took her in for a check-up. Unfortunately we were wrong, her injury had worsened and is now a tear. After multiple consults we scheduled the earliest surgery possible at Lititz Veterinary Clinic. Being confined to the backyard and house has been difficult for Juliet - she loves playing with other dogs and being outside more than anything. We're so ready to help her get back to feeling good again!

Juliet, like a lot of Staffies (American Staffordshire Terriers), has a lot of love to give and gets super excited (aka anxious) when we go to the vet - but West Lancaster Animal Hospital is a fear-free clinic. If she is anxious when we arrive they lead us to a room right away and every staff member shows her so much love - they genuinely care for her. When we walked into Lititz Veterinary Clinic we had the same experience - Dr. Runnels and staff clearly love Staffies and other pit bull breeds and we feel extremely confident that they will take the best care of our goodest girl.
