Hi, all,
If you know me, you know that Axel is the love of my life and I would do anything for this guy. I've had him since he was 3 weeks old -- he was so little and without a cat mom I had to bottle feed him....Now, at his ripe young age of 12, he's had numerous health issues and unfortunately, it's gotten to the point where I am resorting to asking for help.
I've recently learned that there is a cure for Axel's chronic hyperthyroidism. It involves a radioactive iodine treatment at a place called Radiocat in Redwood City and has a 98% success rate...
In addition to getting numerous tests that are required prior to the treatment (another full blood panel, full body x-rays, etc.), the treatment just on it's own is $1,600. The treatment includes the radioactive iodine injections and a 3-day/night clinic stay.
Thankfully, I haven't needed to ask for help up until this point, but I just don't have the funds and have wracked up a lot of debt over the past year with his other expenses (dental, medications, treating his high-blood pressure, numerous tests to diagnose what's wrong, regularly checking his thyroid levels, etc.). Rest assured, if I don't make my goal, I will find a way to get him the treatment but knowing there are a lot of people that know and love Axel, I thought it'd be worth a shot.
If you know and love Axel (or if you just want to help) we'd appreciate anything you can spare.
Come by and see him anytime! If he knows you, I'm sure he misses you...and if he doesn't know you yet, he will love you with the same love he gives to everyone...
