Grandma Lyssie’s Vet Bills

Lyssie was diagnosed with a heart murmur and a partially collapsed trachea. She has a cardiologist appointment in January that was quoted to me as $600-900. She also has an appointment with her regular vet today because she has stopped eating in the past few days and needs xrays and bloodwork, which in the past has cost me approximately $300. We’re asking for some help getting these bills taken care of so we can get Lyssie the best care possible to keep her grumpy little self going.

Latest Update

We spent yesterday afternoon and evening in the er. Lyssie is now suspected to have cholangiohepatitis. Last night’s bill was $1095. We go back to the regular vet in two weeks for more bloodwork, which will be $300+. Then we also still have cardiology in January. So far she’s responding to treatment - she even ate all her breakfast today!

The vet called tonight with Lyssie’s blood work. Her liver function is down and enzymes are way outside the normal ranges. They’re going to get her in asap with internal medicine for an ultrasound. As of now, we’re pausing the cardiology consult to take care of the liver issue. There’s possibility of cushing’s, addison’s, cancer, or some other sort of infection. She’s still very feisty and wants to stick around a lot longer to hoard garbage and make sure no other dogs in the house have any sort of fun.
