8/16/21--- Poor Gunther is fully blind from detached retinas--- so sad--- and my only sign was his slight behavior changes by not greeting me at the door and wanting to run in the hallway---and it looked like he had black eyeliner on the water lines of his eyes.... More tests today--- no feline FIV and his fever is down a bit. Trying to get him into the eye specialist to see if his blindness might reverse itself once we have answers if this is a specific type of upper respiratory infection.
HI everyone--8/12/21 UPDATE... EVERYONE MAKE SURE TO GET PET HEALTH INSURANCE FOR YOUR BABIES. My sweet 4 year old Gunther (grey guy below) might be blind in his left eye. His fever went up to 105.9 in the last couple of hours and his eye suddenly looks like it has blood in it. VET has no idea what this could be when he was an otherwise perfectly healthy 4 year old with flawless teeth. They canceled my attempt at a cleaning 2 years ago as they were a genetic anomaly. Today's visit brings all the tests to $1500......but I will do whatever it takes. Lesson learned for insurance on all future pets. Send prayers please for Gunther Charles!!!!I
HI- so I raised money for ER employees last time I did anything like this & it was super rewarding & fun. This time it's more personal as BOTH of my cats need some medical attention/surgery. My Sphynx has 2 large fatty, benign growths to remove & congenital plaque issues & my 4 yr. old rescue is sick & with no answers yet... Modern Animal & West Hollywood Animal Hospital both seem to be the most attentive, loving, knowledgeable, skilled and organized vets near me. I will always prioritize the treatments that my babies need-- it's just so expensive and the pandemic has affected everything-- even finding an available & reasonable vet took 3 days--the ER even told me they were booked with appointments! I was quoted roughly $2300 to $2600 for the operation & necessary plaque removal. I'm humbly asking for help for these huge bills now totaling over $4K for both & my plan is to give leftover money to the rescue where I got my Gunther-- CARE RESCUE LA and other kitties in need of treatments. THANKS SO MUCH!
