If you have the pleasure of knowing Amanda Brooke Lerner you know she will drop everything to help a friend. You also know that she LOVES Shadi-Grace! Shadi had a really rough Memorial Day weekend. She ended up in the Pet ER and had emergency surgery. Things are looking good for Shadi-Grace, but Amanda is now looking at a $7000 vet bill. My goal is to ease some of the financial pressure from Amanda and Shadi. With the help of her friend's Anthony Robert Grasso, Hilary Greer and myself, we are seeking to raise at least $4000, if not more.
Below is their story as told by Amanda and Shadi-Grace:
Amanda - My one eyed Shadi-Grace was acutely sick all Friday night and when I took her to the Vet the X-Ray showed her stomach was 8x the normal size! Shadi-Grace was rushed over to the ER for an ultrasound which showed she had something lodged in her intestine and needed emergency surgery.
My little buddy was so scared and upset, but that Shadi is a tough one! They removed a giant hairball from her intestine, sewed her up and kept her there overnight. She gave all the nurses a hard time, after all - her name is Shadi for a reason. πΌ♥οΈ
Shadi - I went home the next night, but had a really difficult time adjusting to crate-living. I put on quite a show, freaking out, trying to escape and struggling to get my stupid collar off. I know Amanda was worried I was going to reopen my incision. I did a Linda Blair tribute, rolling my head around in the cat litter and jumping, moaning, and hissing. Amanda woke up and found that I had cleverly gotten the Cone-of-Shame off and was just sitting there in a big soiled mess (not so clever).πΏπ»
Amanda lovingly cleaned out my crate and swapped my giant plastic eCollar for a much smaller and softer one and I am a whole new kitty! I am resting, not so comfortably, however, I am eagerly receiving affection from Amanda who as we all know is generous with her love.
Hallelujah!!
The good news is I am on the road to recovery. The bad news is this whole debacle will cost Amanda $7,200. I feel bad about that part.
