Scotty, Scott, Scooter Gilbert, team mate, confidant, friend, biggest fan, grandson, nephew, brother, son left us on September 25, 2018. He may have left us confused, lost, heavy-hearted, but not empty, because one thing Scotty did best is fill up a space and graciously invited each and every person he met into his beautiful world of depth and wonder, colored by curiosity and energy, on-fire with love and warmth from his endless care.
Scotty's taking is tragic. We can only hope he is free. The Gilbert family is committed to advocating for continued research into bipolar disorder. They feel strongly that this is a disease that must be better understood. They are passionate about supporting foundations that advance the treatment options for bipolar disorder.
We also know Scotty worked hard, sometimes endlessly, to become a man, a brother, and a son who could support his family; to make Stephen and his mom and dad as proud of him as he was of them. Scotty and his family need his support more than ever. So, while we cannot take away the loss, we can show Scotty's family support.
