  • Cheryl Angel2 years ago My friends and my relatives: Become a blessing by giving a financial contribution from your heart equal to the love and respect you have for our elders who give of themselves selflessly to lead us in prayer, to teach us with stories, and to show us how to become a doer of good deeds, and most of all help us achieve Merle final wishes. Merle was a spiritual leader who role modeled what it meant to be a humble man, dependable; a guiding force to the young leaders here in the "Heart Of Everything That Is". He showed everyone, everyday, what being a good relative was with his intention, and interactions at every invitation and opportunity he was offered. He was a friend to everyone, a mentor for many and a gift from creator to all of us who knew him well. He was true to the calling of his higher power and saying "NO" to the people who requested his help was uncommon. When covid-19 pandemic started to take away our relatives, Merle and Lessa answered the call from over 200 families to walk with them and pray for beloved ones crossing over to help everyone during their bereavement. Merle was a much appreciated blessing in the hardest of times. When we made medicine bags for the women's prison, Merle was there with Lessa by his side. When the mniluzahan winter camp opened up they were there beside me lighting the sacred fire. Merle could be seen supporting the community day in and day out. We harvested a buffalo in the community to feed the people, he opened the space with a sacred prayer at Ramkota just a couple weeks ago as we demanded justice for the longest held political prisoner in these Unites States. I can go on and on about my brother Merle. I'll try to stop here. My request is simple. Give whatever you can so we can feed the people, house his relatives from afar and lay him to rest as he wished: up on the hill facing west... lets do the best we can to honor Merle last wishes. We are forever thankful for every day he walked with us. We are deeply greatful for every gift given, every kind word said and now it's time to come together and sing for him, pray for him, and remember him with happiness so he can travel fonward as a Spiritual Being without the burden of being human anymore. RIPMerle. I love you brother. We all love you. We will do our best to carry on your teachings in the way you did. Humbly from the Heart.
