Since Pam passed away on Friday, the Looney family has received an outpouring of love and concern. The family has been very moved by all the thoughts and support. Many people have been asking what to do or how to help. In lieu of flowers, we would love for folks to contribute to one of our chosen memorial gifts.
1) a memorial plaque for Pam at the San Diego Zoo
2) donations to support the San Diego Brain Injury Foundation (SDBIF).
Pam spent most of her life in San Diego and for many of those years was a member of the San Diego Zoo. Her favorite exhibit was Polar Bear Plunge. She loved taking her daughters to the Zoo and the Wild Animal Park and they both have very fond memories of many visits with her from early childhood through recent years. The family would love to have a memorial plaque to visit at the Zoo. We encourage you to donate towards this goal.
And as some of you may know, Pam survived a brain aneurysm 30 years ago. She discovered a community of other survivors of Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). She attended classes to help improve cognition, memory, and communication. And maybe most importantly, she had community of friends she could both learn from and help. The San Diego Brain Injury Foundation (SDBIF) supports survivors like Pam find resources to improve health, happiness, and make friends.
All contributions on this page will go towards making these memorial gifts possible. If you would like to specify which gift you are contributing to, please do so in the comments or with a message. Thank you very much for your thoughts and your generosity.
