Funeral Expense Fund for Scott

On Friday January 4, my father, Scott, went to the hospital because he was having some breathing issues. Unexpectedly, he was admitted to the ICU of St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

His heart and lungs are damaged and his blood is not getting enough oxygen. He is currently sedated and on a ventilator.

My parents do not have a lot of money. Scott is self employed, but hasn't been able to work in 2 weeks. My mother, Patty, works part time at a local bar & grill. This sudden turn of events is not something we ever saw coming.

We do not have a timetable for Scott nor an anticipated discharge date which means insurmountable medical bills for his life saving care.

This is not something they would ever ask for themselves and I am unfortunately not in a position to help them out directly.

Please consider helping my family.

Anything will help.

Thank you.

Latest Update

Unfortunately, this fund has now turned into a funeral expense fund as Dad did not survive his hospital stay. He passed away at 10:59 on January 14, 2019.

So sorry to hear. He will be missed by many. All my prayers and hugs go out to you all.

We are not out of the woods, yet, but Scott has made some improvement. He may possibly come off of the ventilator tomorrow. We are waiting for the results of some additional testing before proceeding with tube removal. Thank you for all the continued support!

Scott is in the MICU at the University of Iowa Hospital. Doctors are doing the best to help him get well; they have decided to post pone the ECMO and are going a different route of care at this time. We appreciate any and all support. Thank you.
