In loving memory of Gus Miles Jr who passed on to heaven March 8th. He will forever be missed and remain in our hearts.
Gus accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in 1979 at 1st Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. L. B. Oliver. In 1979 after graduating from High School, Gus enlisted in the United States Army. After relocating to California Gus met the love of his life Brenda Sims. They were married in 1990 and to this union Gus adopted her 3 children as his own.
As a faithful servant Gus accepted Christ’ and the church’s invitation to serve as Deacon, which he did for 22 years. He was a faithful member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Gus believed in serving the Lord, faithfully he served as Deacon, sang in the men’s chorus and praised God every opportunity he had. Gus served under the leadership of Pastor Abron Evans.
Gus was preceded in death by his parents Gus Sr. and Eliza, sister Sharon, and brother-in-law Nathan Sims.
Gus leaves to cherish his memory, wife Brenda Miles, stepmother Lena Faye Miles, father and mother-in-love Rev. Cryst and Blanch Sims. Two sons, Phillip Randolph and Paul Kidwell: two daughters Latasha (husband Mason Cobbs) and Theresa Miles. Three sisters Glenda Jefferson, Tanya Miles, Sharon (husband Leroy) Jones and three brothers Charles Miles, Cornelius (wife Pamela) Miles, and Tony (wife Janice) Fletcher: Sister-in-law, Cheryl and Irene Sims, brother-in-law Landen Sims: Ten Grandchildren, Phillip, Dalon, Ajanay, C’yan, Leilani, Jayson, Alaysia, Jayda, Leiana, and Leondre and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, Godchildren and many many very dear friends. Gus Miles will be forever known as the “King of Dominoes” to his brethren.
Deacon Gus Miles, as he is affectionally known as, will be extremely missed by all who came in contact with him.
