Codi Herrera is a young mother of 3, a 15 year old, 14 year old and a 2 year old. She has had several strokes with ongoing seizures, optic nerve stroke and a brain bleed. She has been hospitalized for over 2 weeks with her husband Nick by her side constantly with no pay. Not only are the medical bills piling up but daily expenses: house payment, utilities, groceries, car payment, gas to get to and from the hospital. The current financial state is very bleak. Bless you for your consideration.

Latest Update

Christmas is upon us. We're so grateful to all who have cobtributed. We have managed to keep the utilities on and keep the family fed but the medical Bills just keep rolling in. I feel helpless that I can't help more and it's a mother's fear that her child is struggling. We haven't even met 50% of our goal of $3500, yet others can raise $20K in 2 days for a material loss covered by insurance. I don't begrudge them for their support. I just don't know how much more I can share or ask to share this fund raiser. Codi is about 80% on track but still has vision issues. Her return to work is not without struggle as her father has helped getting her to and from work, and taking the baby to day care. She won't be able to drive at least six months and then only after a medical release. Yes, Christmas is here. We are thankful for the miracle of life and that Codi is still with us. Thank you to all.

The family is managing and everyoneis settling into a routine. Keep praying the Codi's sight improves. It is impacting her life. The backlash of bills and no income for almost a month for Codi and 3 weeks for Nick is still hurting. Please keep sharing. Thank you to all for your help and kind thoughts and prayers.

A little over one week home now. Still issues with sight and getting the words to come easy. It's been challenging and we need to work to keep the stress down. Therapy is in place, praying for continued improvement. Bills are still coming in and without any short term disability, their income is down to just Nick's. This little family still needs help. Please continue to spread the word. We want to thank everyone who has contributed do far. No matter how big or small, every bit helps.

11/11. Codi is improving thanks to all the positive vibes and prayers. Rehab has begun and will continue. It appears she may be released to come home, with family assistance on hand. This little family will be back together but still facing struggles financially as Codi will not be able to return to work and the bills are horrendous. Any little bit helps.

Today is Nick and Codi's anniversary. Instead of a lovely evening out to celebrate, Codi begins therapy today, while Nick juggles time between child care, household needs and being by Codi's side. Please continue to send positive thoughts as Codi battles her seizures. Her vision hasn't been totally evaluated yet for the amount of loss, nor do we know the limitations of her physical and cognitive skills. The challenges will be many.

Wednesday we saw some improvement as she was talking and recognized Nick. Today she had a setback with more seizures and not recognizing her husband. Her poor little boy misses his momma so badly and the girls are lost without their 'best Codi ever'. Worst of all is seeing Nick trying to be strong for them all. It's gut wrenching.
