Thank you for considering helping Baby AJ and his family with healthcare expenses! The care expenses have stunned our family, but we are optimistic about AJ's recovery and looking forward to him going home some day.
When Jessica was about 24 weeks along, she was diagnosed with preeclamplsia and admitted to the only hospital in the region that can care for babies born before 28 weeks. Baby AJ was delivered on September 27th at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1lb 6oz. AJ showed impressive strength and a strong will to survive. Although he is still supported in the intensive care unit, he is smiling, kicking, and makes eye contact with his parents. Everyone says he looks like his dad but he definitely has his mom's stubborn streak. AJ has gone through a few surgeries and several treatments to help with his breathing. After some ups and downs, he was diagnosed with a super rare lung disease, pulmonary interstitial glycogenosis. He is improving, but the medical team is still working out the most effective treatment plan. After Jessica was discharged from the hospital they learned that the specialists she had seen were not covered under her insurance. While they are working to get the insurance company to cover some of the costs, they are facing mounting medical bills.
Jessica, Aaron, their families, and a terrific medical team are doing every thing they can to make sure AJ has a happy, healthy future. It would be a tremendous help to them if we can get some of their medical bills covered. If the funds raised exceed what is needed for medical bills, they will go to support the family's cost of living while they are focusing on caring for AJ. Jessica and Aaron would never ask for help in other circumstances but this is an immense burden and we are all humbled by AJ's amazing spirit and will to be here with us!
Thank you for your support!
