Started by: Aushanae Haller
My name is Aushanae Haller, and I am a graduating senior from North Houston Early College High School (NHECHS). A few of my hobbies include dancing, skating (both roller and ice), and writing poetry. When I’m not doing these things, however, you’ll find me studying with a cup of coffee at hand! With the support of my family and friends, hard work, and dedication, I became not only the Valedictorian of the Class of 2019 at NHECHS, but the first ever African American Valedictorian of my high school.
I am currently the President of National Honor Society at NHECHS. As President I’ve started a new initiative for Health Awareness; and each month North Houston Early College High School wears a color to represent the awareness and support of conditions and diseases our community faces every day. I am also the Vice President of Science National Honor Society, the Vice President and Step Master of ZIA Sisterhood, Secretary and Soprano Section Leader of Advanced Choir, and the School Pride Officer of the 2018-2019 school year. Through all of these extracurriculars, I believe I’ve attained many of the skills necessary to move on to the next chapter of my life: College!
This will not be my first encounter, however, with college courses. Because North Houston Early College High School is an Early College, I’ve had the opportunity to take college courses at HCC. I am proud to say that I have graduated HCC before even graduating high school with both my Associate of Arts of Multidisciplinary Studies and Associate in Science with highest honors!
My next chapter is to be at Smith College located in Northampton, Massachusetts (a long way from Houston, Texas!) where I will work for my bachelors in Psychology; and although I have been blessed with a full-ride scholarship, I am still left with expenses to get to college, have the necessary items to live in my dorm comfortably. This is why I’m reaching out to you in hopes of gaining your support in my journey. Anything helps!
Thank you so much for reading, and your support!
