Wishing on a well (and a basement, 4 wheel drive vehicles, uv water filter, woodstove, woodshed, snow blower, washing machine, etc.)
Denny and I feel so grateful to have finally closed on our very first home. But unfortunately, the sellers left us with a ton of junk, some disgusting messes and really bad smells. We took it on because we wanted them out without having to delay closing and risk our interest rate rising. So now we work hard all day everyday to deal with the property's overwhelming problems that keep stacking up. We are making good progress, but it feels like trying to crawl out from under a ton of crap that piles up as fast as we can move it!
Before closing I created and launched this fundraiser for a new well. However, now that we are in the home there are other issues (such as a sealed off crawl space that is growing large weird fungal things) that feel more pressing to address. We have been so overwhelmed with problems that the well has no longer been first on our list (though we do hope to begin to address it soon.) Rather than tossing out this fundraiser and starting over, I expanded upon it. We would be extremely grateful for any support (financial or otherwise) that anyone feels moved to offer. Thank you for your friendship and aid, it means so much to us especially at this time.
The following is what I initially wrote for just the well:
Our cup runneth over but not our well!
Our shallow dug well, (which is located on someone else's property very far away) has a tendency to run dry. We hope to obtain water security by having a well drilled on our land.
We would be grateful for any contribution (even if small) that you feel moved to make. Each $10 pays for five inches of well. Though we will not be able to identify and engrave your name upon your particular section of steel casing, we will know that our water flows through it. Drinking and washing will remind us of the kindness and blessing of deeply grounded friendship and love.
Buying a home and relocating to another part of the state has been the most significant milestone of our 27 year relationship — perhaps even our lives. Uprooting and moving continues to be a drawn out affair and a ton of work. We thank you in advance for any support you offer. It means a lot to us and gives a much needed boost in what has been a daunting process.
