Make Your Own!

My name is Valerie, I’m a 59 year old woman living in Riverside, California.
I am asking for help in order to re-establish myself. I spent 24 long years in prison and am a proud survivor of domestic violence. I was released from prison due to decades of exceptional behavior. I am so proud to have survived prison and am ready to give back to the world!
While I am so grateful for my freedom, attempting to find work and stable housing during a pandemic has been extremely challenging.
During my time as a free woman, I have already begun to work towards creating a better world. I have shared my experiences of partner abuse to men in domestic violence classes. I have acted as a testament of how one’s whole life and the lives of the ones they love can instantly and forever be altered by violence and abuse.
Throughout this time, I am also constantly looking for a job. I have had interviews, but because I am an ex-felon, it has been extremely difficult to get a job offer.
I plan to use these funds toward paying first and last months rent on an apartment and buying a used car so that I can get to job interviews. When I do get that job, I will use the car to commute to and from work!
I thank you all so much for your help and so appreciate your kindness.
-Valerie
