I took a leave of absence from work in August due to chronic health issues and this led to a slow in income and I currently owe back rent plus late fees. I fully intend on returning to work once I receive proper medical care and have written documentation to bring to my employer.
Although I have explained my predicament, made partial payments, and made an official declaration to my landlord expressing my rights under the federal CDC halt on evictions, he has seen fit to fashion a charge of tenant lease violation, saying that I violated the lease by simply growing plants in containers in the yard area of my rental unit. He has also falsely accused me of growing cannabis in this yard area in order to get around the statute protecting my right to housing up until the provision expires on December 31st 2020 (28 U.S.C. 1746).
I have been summoned to court on October 29th. Thankfully, I have been able to secure legal representation from Southeast Louisiana Legal Services.
I am grateful that since making the arduous decision to take a temporary leave from work to focus on self care, spiritual growth, and my connection to the earth through the practice of gardening & agriculture that my migraine headache symptoms have practically slowed to a halt.
I know that a lot of people are suffering and facing hard times so it makes it this more difficult to stop and explain my hardships in hopes of receiving relief. However, I also know that the gift of grace is granted to those who humble themselves to the reality of life's difficulty and speak this truth. Everyday that I awaken to these challenges I remember that God's grace is limitless. Therefore I have chosen to place no limits on God.
