HI! Please bear with me. Im not usually one to ask for help or tell the world whats going on in my life but then COVID 19 happened.Out of an abundance of caution my family has been isolating for health reasons. I am disabled by auto immune and chronic pain conditions, making me high risk. Both of my children have chronic lung issues, making them high risk as well. I never thought I would have to rely on the kindness of strangers and neighbors for access to food and much needed household items but that is exactly what has happened. Unfortunately there is only so much they can do.

COVID 19 has laid bare the harsh reality of just how vulnerable we are. Simply put we need help to get back on our feet and increase opportunities for ourselves.

One of the things that has happened is my partner’s loss of income which I know has affected many families not just my own. It has been devastating because he has unique challenges with employment and has led to us falling behind on bills and rent as we have gone through the small savings we painstakingly put away to be able to get food and essentials for our family now

.

Something else that has become clear is that we need a car. My autoimmune disease is progressing rapidly and my mobility is changing. I am increasingly limited by pain which in turn limits my family’s livelihood. Even though I have access to services like Zipcar, that is expensive and my partner can not help. There is a huge barrier we need to clear.

18 years ago my partner received a speeding ticket, shortly thereafter he was incarcerated for an extended period of time. Time stops for no man and while he was gone, late fees and fines associated with not appearing for his appeal kept accumulating to a level that makes it difficult to overcome. Not only is his license crucial to the independence of myself and family, but it is also a path towards gainful employment for a person with a criminal record who has struggled deeply with the stigma of incarceration. He has changed his life and built a family but the stain remains. We have worked so hard to keep our family together through sickness, addiction, incarceration, homelessness and so much more. I am humbly asking you to help us help ourselves. The freedom clearing his license and obtaining this vehicle would afford us will be life changing for us and especially for our children.

Thank you in advance if you made it this far and even if you didnt! :)

Any donations will be used as follows

Pay back rent. ( Just a little bit behind)

Paying for my partners license and reinstatement process

Purchasing our FIRST family car (and my first car EVER)

Registering and Insuring the car for at least 6 mos

if there is anything left, MAYBE just maybe taking an adventure with our family when we get the car and the clear from our governor. Our daughter's 17th birthday is in one week and our kids have been pretty fabulous though all of the changes COVID 9 has thrown at them. It would be amazing to take them somewhere they have never been before. Thank you again.

Kelly and family!
