Make Your Own!
Started by: Rosie Emily Thompson
Hi,
My name is Rosie Thompson and I am a Whatcom Community College student with the incredible opportunity to volunteer and learn in a local healthcare clinic and school in Macheke, Zimbabwe. This is organized through the Macheke Sustainability Project, with a trip scheduled for late November.
I would like to ask whether you will consider supporting me through a donation toward the costs of this volunteer opportunity.
"The Macheke Sustainability Project is a non-profit organization that focuses on sustainability initiatives in the village community of Macheke in Zimbabwe. Macheke Sustainability Project inquires about the development challenges in Macheke and then looks for solutions that are culturally relevant and won't lead to the loss of rich customs that enhance environmental diversity."
Observing, learning and engaging in important conversations about public health, education and sustainability in Macheke and the surrounding areas will help me in my future work in public health. It also provides me with the opportunity to learn about the rich culture and environment of Macheke. To the best of my ability, and as permitted, I will be assisting at a local healthcare clinic that has extremely limited access to medical supplies and equipment. The healthcare clinic services all of Macheke. I am also going to be volunteering at the local Primary School and assisting by providing guidance on reading and writing in English with the children.
In the future, I want to major in Public Health in conjunction with a medical degree. I am currently attending Whatcom Community College in Bellingham to earn my Associate's degree.
Please consider supporting my volunteer work and experience of public health, education, and sustainability in Macheke with any donation amount.
If you would like to read more about the Macheke Sustainability Project, please take a look at their website here: http://machekeproject.org/
Much love and gratitude,
Rosie.
I am working as much as I can to raise money for funding this volunteer opportunity and the costs are:
- $2200 to the organizer and the Macheke Sustainability Project and their local healthcare clinic
- A further $1800 for travel costs (flights, visas, and vaccinations).
* Any additional funds will be donated to the Macheke Sustainability Project, including the Healthcare clinic *
