Help Dove Fly: Support a Survivor Through a Life-Changing Tech Program!
Hello! And thanks for coming to my gift site <3. With your support, I will be able to complete a full time, accelerated IT program and launch my career in tech!
All of your loving gifts will go towards:
-Securing reliable transportation: I lost my car in an accident last fall and need to be able to commute to a MARTA-accessible area to attend class
-Housing: Currently I have the most housing security in a rural part of town. With your help, I may be able to temporarily relocate to an area that provides MARTA access
-Living Expenses: Because the program is during full-time work hours, I will have to step away from full time positions for the moment. Anything that can assist with daily expenses and bills would help tremendously!
-Study Materials: Any extra textbooks, learning websites, or hardware I may need in class and beyond!
I hope to use this opportunity to launch my career in tech and find ways that technology can further harmony between our communities and the environment. The more I am provided for, the more I will be able to give. Thank you, thank you, thank you for supporting me and my career dreams!
A bit of backstory:
As many of you may already know, I have always had an interest in technology. Even as young as a preteen, I was trying to figure out how computers work and what's going on inside. I was my family's go -to for tech support for everything from setting up DSL connections (remember those?!) to sending an email. Tech holds an undeniable magic to me and I always want to know more about it and pass on my knowledge.
I attended McKinley Tech HS in DC in 2005. Here, I was immersed in to the IT field and learned some basics in Graphic Design, Game Design, and IT fundamentals that set the foundation for my skills today. I had access to programs like Adobe Illustrator which were new to non-professionals and students like myself, which are now industry standard. I may have been able to find out how far I could go with this path, but life had a different path in store for me. In 2007, my family packed up our capital city ways and moved to a surburban/rural town about 35 minutes south of Atlanta.
It's been 12 years since then, and what an adventure! I attended college for a couple of years, but had to withdraw because of financial hardship. I gathered life experience in many non-tech jobs. The paths of my life and the tech-industry seemed to twist and turn. Sometimes they seemed to be one, and other times, they couldn't be farther apart! Despite these challenges, I still carried my love for tech in heart. I have a small but growing graphic design portfolio, and a recent development that may literally change my life!
I've been studying at home for my CompTIA A+ and Net+ certifications, two types of "certs" that open the door to a tech career. Then my friend referred a program that offers just that (as well as a web development/coding track!!!) with a full scholarship! Admission is competitive: They want to be sure that students can complete the program in full, pass the exams, and launch their careers.
Completion is a major factor because the program is an accelerated, bootcamp type of experience. It's full-time school, Monday through Friday, from 9am to 5pm, for 15 weeks. A big part of the admissions process is ensuring the school that I will simply be able to make it to class everyday. With your help, I will be able to do that, and much more!

Once more, thank you so much for all of your support! Please share my campaign and tell your friends how I'm diversifying an industry!
