Make Your Own!
Started by: Know Theatre of Cincinnati
We need you to help us bring the iconic story of civil rights trailblazer Fannie Lou Hamer to neighborhoods around Cincinnati, just in time for the Ohio and Kentucky voter registration deadline.
This new blues-music-fueled performance was written by playwright Cheryl L. West to be performed in, activate, and empower underrepresented neighborhoods so we can all exercise our power to make change.
In parking lots and parks from Fountain Square to Walnut Hills to Westwood to Price Hill and more, "Fannie Lou Hamer: Speak On It!" starts out as a socially-distanced neighborhood get-out-the-vote rally that turns into a music-fueled, interactive celebration performed from the back of a 60s pickup truck.
Fannie Lou Hamer and her blues guitarist step out of the truck, out of the past, and into a thrilling rallying cry for a more just future.
And we need your help to bring it to life!
Your gifts first and foremost pay our artists, help us secure locations around the city, create the look and logistics of the show, and help us get out the word.
***There's no time to waste - we're rolling this show out ASAP to beat the Ohio and Kentucky voter registration deadline. That's why we need your help TODAY, before performances start on September 23!***
Whether you can give $10 or $1,000, every penny toward this project counts! We cannot bring this to life without YOUR help - will you join us to bring the fiery passion and inspiring words of Fannie Lou Hamer to life all over Cincinnati?
