Love chocolate? Love Guyana? Help us get 100% Guyanese chocolate into your mouth and to people worldwide! At Araumana Chocolate Company, we are committed to supporting our local farmers and creating high quality chocolate that is totally Guyanese from bean to bar, with no foreign or artificial additives. By contributing to this exciting initiative you will not only be helping us make history in Guyana; you will also be supporting indigenous Guyanese women farmers and small entrepreneurs.

Introducing the Araunama Chocolate Company- producing, for the first time ever- 100% local, artisanal Guyanese chocolate!

Cacao has been grown in the Americas for centuries, revered as a gift from the gods, used as currency, and enjoyed for numerous health benefits. Today, most of the finest flavored cacao for premium chocolate making still comes from this region. However, most of the chocolate currently consumed in the Caribbean is imported, with a few global companies and brands dominating the local supermarket shelves. Most of this foreign chocolate comes from cacao plantations which use child labour and forced labour practices- i.e. modern day slavery- something which many consumers are unaware of. Araunama aims to change that in Guyana by producing chocolate that is 100% local, organic, and delicious.

Araumana is an indigenous name for the Essequibo region of Guyana- source of the cacao beans we use to craft our 100% artisanal Guyanese chocolate. Araunama cacao is organic and grown by indigenous women and small farmers of Region One in the Northwest of Guyana. At Araunama, we are committed to supporting our local farmers and creating high quality, delicious chocolate that is totally Guyanese from bean to bar, with no foreign or artificial additives. We are currently in start-up phase, experimenting with flavours and refining our technique. We aim to launch our first product- a drinking chocolate- in a few weeks, and with your support, we hope to have chocolate bars available in time for the December festivities.

Your donation is needed to help us purchase a few major pieces of equipment (see list below) that we need in order to produce a superior product that we can be proud of and that can be placed on supermarket shelves around the world. Your support in getting this exciting venture started would be very much appreciated. P.S- All contributors to our fundraising effort will receive a unique thank you token designed by a young indigenous Guyanese artist.

Equipment that your donation will help us to purchase include:

Temperer- https://www.chocolatetemperingmachines.com/products/acmc-tabletop-temperer-acme-chocolate-tempering-machine

Concher- https://www.chocolatemelangeur.com/premier-compact-table-top-chocolate-melangeur

Latest Update

Happy Monday friends! We're extra happy today because- thanks to your generous donations- we were just able to order the tempering machine that we need to create shelf-stable chocolate bars. We could not have done this without your help; for that we are immensely grateful. So far, we've received $1,187.34 in contributions- $943.73 of which was spent on the temperer. We're still hoping to raise some more funds to purchase another concher but so far so good! We have our first public tasting event scheduled for this Friday coming so we are busy preparing for that. If you're in Georgetown, please come by the Courtyard Mall on Robb St from 4:30-6:30pm for your sample. Otherwise, tell your GT-based friends and family. Thank you all very much again, Team Araunama (Andrew, Chianna, and Lina)

Hi friends, We're having a slight problem processing your online donations right now :( We still need them, and are working on resolving the issue, BUT in the meantime, this is what we have been advised to tell you: You can still make donations via PayPal, but please do so directly via Paypal, not from this site. Send to the same email address- ssnageer@yahoo.com, just put For Araunama in the subject line. Understand? Any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me! THANK YOU once again! And of course, if you're in Guyana, you can contact us by phone to meet up and donate, as well as sample the chocolate :)

Dear friends, THANK YOU for your contribution to our fundraising campaign so far. We appreciate your support very, very much. We are halfway to being able to purchase the temperer- our most crucially needed piece of equipment which will enable us to produce shelf-life chocolate. Please continue to help us by spreading the word about this campaign and the Araunama Chocolate Company of Guyana. With your support we are well on our way to making sweet history in Guyana! Gratefully, - Team Araunama (Andrew, Chianna, and Lina)
