Sandra Castaneda immigrated to Los Angeles as a permanent resident from Mexico when she was 9 years old. At 20, she was sentenced to life in prison for murder even though she did not commit murder. After 19 years in prison, a judge vacated her conviction. Instead of releasing Sandra to her family, the California Department of Corrections turned her over to ICE.
For over a year, Sandra has been held in a detention center in Georgia while ICE tried to deport her for her vacated conviction. An immigration judge recently dismissed her case, but ICE still refused to release her.
With your support, Sandra will finally be released on bond soon! Please donate to help cover the $3500 bond - additional funds raised will support Sandra's reentry fund. Thank you!!
