This past summer, a group of us traveled to Tanzania with Moondance Adventures and spent a week with the students at the Mungere Secondary School. The rural community welcomed us into their space, allowing us to help expand their school garden, practice english (and a very small amount of Swahili) and most importantly, we were shown love without hesitation regardless of our cultural differences. We want to continue to show our love for this community by raising money to provide education for 10 students for one school year. Attending high school in Tanzania costs about $500 USD per year—making it highly cost prohibitive when the average family income is roughly $530 USD per year. Mungere School is the first high school available to kids in the rural community of Mungere, Tanzania. Through the Red Sweater Project, students in rural East Africa are not only given bright school uniforms- they have a new school where they can learn and thrive. For these students, putting on a red sweater means access to high-quality high school education. Every year more than 200 families apply for one of the 30-40 available spots in the incoming class. When completed, Mungere School will serve over 300 students each year. With $15,000 we can support the school's holistic approach to education by providing tuition, meals, extracurricular activities, school supplies, school uniforms, and even basic healthcare for ten students for an entire school year at Mungere! We love this community so much. Whether you know and love this community as well or are simply just inspired by the school's mission to provide for their community, please join us in showing them love and support from across the globe! Our goal is to raise $15,000 by Christmas Day. We know it's less than a month to raise, but we have faith!!!
