The extreme heat wave in the pacific northwest this summer ended the lives of many animals. Elders and those before them have warned that this would happen in our lifetimes. A small group of Diné Hataałii (translates to: Navajo medicine people) would like to travel to the Pacific Ocean and perform a Ceremony for Humanity, Animal, Sea Life and our precious Ecosystem. This fund would contribute to the travel cost for 6 families & 4 nights.

Latest Update

Hello Everyone! Below is a story and some photos of the ceremony and trip we would love to share with you from late July. We were not able to cover the majority of the travel cost, so please do share and donate in the last remaining days of our fundraiser so that we can reimburse more of the cost of this wonderful cause. Thanks so much for your time and consideration, and even more so for your shares and donations. Much gratitude!

The ceremony was a beautiful experience for all who attended. A small group of Hatáli and their families travelled to the California coast at St. Nicolas Beach and performed the ceremony together with members of the local Chumash people. The ceremony was held over 3 days in a traditional arbor and an offering was made in a small pool of water and life above the tide and storm surge. Locals warned that the ocean water would not reach that high but this was the place the holy people indicated. The ocean did rise later and take the offering, so much so that it took some of the local infrastructure with it (https://www.ksby.com/news/california-news/powerful-surf-washes-out-road-along-malibu-beach). After 3 days, the Diné families returned home with beautiful memories and stories to share. Much gratitude to the donors of this campaign and the Chumash people for making this ceremony a wonderful experience for all involved.
