My son has been playing trumpet since the 8th grade. He was a member of the El Capitan High School Marching band for 4 years, while in high school he was also in the Jazz band for 2 years, Honor Jazz Band for 1, 2 years in the choir, and gave Color Guard a shot his Senior year.
After Graduating High School he was planning on joining The United States Marine Corps for the Marine Corps Band. But because of his eye sight they wouldn’t let him join.
Now he is enrolled into College to become a music teacher. He has also tried out for the local Independent Drum Corps called Gold Drum & Bugel Corps. He was accepted and given a contract to be apart of this amazing program. Last year they took Bronze at Championships in Indianapolis. They practice 10 to 12 hours a day on the weekends starting in May. They start travel various states in mid June and return the beginning of August.
This would help with his fees to cover his entry fees, uniform, and travel fees for this summer.
