Hi friends,
This summer, a team from the Bridge Church will be traveling to Siem Reap, Cambodia to partner with an amazing organization, People for Care and Learning (PCL).
Cambodia is a beautiful country (bordering Vietnam) located in Southeast Asia. Between 1975 and 1979, the country was devastated by the reign of the Khmer Rouge, a communist guerrilla movement. During the Khmer Rouge’s period of power, at least 1.5 million Cambodians were killed or died, a monumental tragedy from which the country still suffers. The tragic legacy of this era can still be found throughout the rural villages in Cambodia where a majority of the population lives in impoverished conditions.
PCL is a 501(c)(3) that seeks to break the cycle of poverty through a holistic, systematic approach centered around providing education and training opportunities for Cambodians. The organization has established schools, a medical center, and businesses managed by the Cambodians with the goal of creating a self-sustainable, replicable model of empowerment.
We are excited to see what God has in store for our team and the people we'll meet during our time in Cambodia. We fully understand that our time there isn't long enough to change lives instantly, however, we are hopeful that through getting to know the people and building relationships, a seed will be planted, that will continue to grow and bear fruit.
We also fully understand that we cannot do this on our own, so we humbly ask you for your support as we prepare for our time in Cambodia. Our goal is to raise $15,000 for our trip - 50% of the funds will go towards defraying travel and lodging costs for the team and the other 50% will go directly to PCL to help them continue their important mission.
Most importantly, we ask for your prayers. Please pray for our team - for safety during the trip, for a spirit of unity, for courage as we step out of our comfort zone to serve others, and lastly, for a servant's heart that is humble and sensitive.
Jesus spoke the following words that we will carry with us as we serve the people we encounter in Siem Reap:
“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35

Thank you so much for your prayers and support!
Sincerely,
The Bridge Church
