It almost seems inevitable. I mean it didn’t start out that way, it never does. It starts with me poking around different chat groups trying to understand what’s not being said on the news-how bad is it, who’s there helping, what do they need? Then, there comes along a post, an article, a situation that I can not not share with Lesley. The more we talk about, the more I share the situation, the more I start wondering what I could do to help. Lots of times there’s not that much I can do-support locals materially and financially with the hope that they’re able to get on top of it. But then sometimes, sometimes the situation is such that all available hands are needed, and the best way for me to help is just to go. That’s where I am at today.
In April, I’m going to the Ukrainian border because physical bodies are needed to help supply and evacuated children and their families. It’s pretty much that simple.
Currently my plan is to work with a group that is helping evacuate autistic children and their families. I’m also hoping to help them acquire anything they might need to help care for the child-items to alleviate sensory issues, specialized food needs, In addition to basic needs. That children are forced to wear the physical, mental and emotional scars of war disillusions me to what society calls “civilization”. Amazingly, it will be these same children of war that will restore my faith.
Obviously this situation is way bigger than me, it’s bigger than most of us-that’s why I think it’s going to take all of us, in some way or another, to fix the situation. If you’d like to help me evacuate and supply women and children to safety, please consider making a financial contribution via the link below. If you’d like to discuss how else you might get involved, please reach out. It’s going to be a heavy load.
Like past trips where you’ve been so generous with your help, all funds will go directly to aid in supplying and evacuating children and their families.
