Will you help Paul?
Paul Gangi is "riding the divide", biking the Great Divide Mountain Bike Course, for the entire 3,083 miles! He will start within the snow capped Canadian Rockies in Jasper, Alberta, and will follow the ups and downs of the Continental Divide all the way to the dusty Mexican border at Antelope Wells, New Mexico.
Paul hopes that people can share his experience by following him on Facebook as he provides GoPro video updates of his joys and challenges, from across the North American continent. He also hopes that people will be inspired by his efforts and be motivated by his slogan, "Choose YOUR challenge," to see how they might help him and support his cause!
Paul is fulfilling a dream, and the 3,083 miles will likely take 10 weeks of endurance and determined effort...but He isn't doing all this for himself. He has another dream to help fund a building project called "Phase III", a building project at Grace Baptist Church that will expand the service and ministry to Paul's hometown of Dansville, NY. Every penny donated to support Paul's tremendous effort will go to this even bigger effort.
Dansville is in beautiful Upstate New York, just west of the Finger Lakes. It is a great place to live with a great community of people, but like many of our home towns across America, it struggles with substance abuse and with youth searching for belonging and joy as they find their place in their community.
Paul's church, Grace Baptist Church, has worked to meet these struggles. Its Clean and Free Program has been for many years a safe place for individuals who struggle with substance abuse to find hope for the future and support for today. Its Summer Sports Program has been a place for area youth to meet during the summer for clean athletic fun, a free meal, and new friendships with people who truly care. Above all, in all its programs, Grace Baptist Church strives to fulfill its mission, "to glorify God by spreading a passion for the supremacy of Jesus Christ to all peoples, and by equipping believers for Christ-centered Ministry."
Phase-III is a building project that will greatly expand Grace Baptist Church's outreach to the community, and better equip local and regional Christ-centered ministries. It will feature a gymnasium designed to function as a welcoming event hall, several classrooms, a kitchen, and restrooms. It will expand the youth ministries and athletic outreaches, and build upon the existing services to the Dansville community.
Paul will strive to bike 50 miles a day, 6 days a week, week after week, across 3,083 miles of some of the most beautiful but challenging terrain of North America, and he will do this to help make Phase-III happen.
Would you please help Paul make a tangible change for good for his hometown?
