Latest Update

Mission accomplished! Thanks to all of your help we delivered 10 heaping truck loads of school supplies to dozens of schools supporting thousands of Karen students across multiple districts in Karen State in Myanmar! That's more than double last year's effort! Pictured here is the Project KARE school supplies distribution center in Mu Traw district. There is no wide angle lens capable of capturing the massive amount of supplies. This year we delivered more than 40,000 notebooks, 30,000 pens, plus pencils, A4 copy paper, sports equipment and so much more!! We also funded the construction of a new school and a new library too! Our Project KARE donors are changing thousands of lives of Karen students and future Karen leaders. Thank you from all the students, teachers, education leaders, senior Karen leadership in Karen State and all of us at Project KARE. We're deeply grateful for all you have done!

Quick update ... the first HUGE load of school supplies has already arrived in Karen State! This year we got a jump start and had truckloads of notebooks, pens and pencils delivered in advance. We'll finish the shopping when we arrive in Chiang Mai Thailand this month. And then we'll distribute supplies to more than 3,000 students in 15+ schools once we arrive in Karen State in mid-January. This is shaping up to be our biggest year yet! Thank you to all of you! Your gifts are making education possible for thousands of Karen students!

Our KAREWash was a huge success! Project KARE raised more than $1,500 on Saturday washing cars and selling Thai tea, Karen food, Project KARE T-Shirts and more. More than 30 Karen people, and friends of Karen people, worked hard all day shining up cars and supporting Karen people who remain in Karen State in Burma and in Mae Ra Moe refugee camp. Many thanks to all our generous patrons and supporters of Project KARE! Special thanks to Hotchkiss Auto Repair for generously offering their busy, and perfectly located, parking lot and for forgoing a much earned Saturday off. Sorry, and Thank You Hotch and Jo Dee!! #KarenPeople #EducationForAll #FutureKarenLeaders #ProjectKARE #HotchkissAutoRepair #ThaiBurmaBorder #Education #Volunteer #Fundraiser #NonProfit #AllVolunteerOrg

Thank you to all of you who stopped by to say hello to us at the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival. Our Project KARE team sold soft drinks for two very full and warm days at two Coca Cola booths. Project KARE earned a percentage of the sales revenue and we'll buy lots of school supplies with the proceeds! We didn't need to look far to find volunteers. One call to the Karen community, actually to Su Baw, and three families filled our booths with incredible Karen workers! This year the festival leaders invited us to display a donation jar and we're excited we received almost $600 in donations from festival goers. The Dragon Boat Festival is an exceptional pan-Asian event engaging many cultures. It's wonderful to see the Karen people represented in the broader Denver area Asian community. Our next event will be our Brews for Burma fundraiser which will be closer to our January KARE Trip. So ... stay tuned!

Mark the date! Project KARE is excited to be returning to the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival for our 2nd year as a Non-Profit Partner. This year the festival will be on Sat. and Sun. July 27 and 28 at Sloan's Lake in Denver. Once again we will be selling soft drinks at a Coca-Cola booth. Project KARE earns a portion of the concessions which we'll use to purchase school supplies for Karen people in Karen State in Myanmar and at Mae Ra Moe refugee camp. We hope you'll come out to enjoy another amazing Dragon Boat Festival and come to our Coca Cola booth to support Project KARE too! For more information on the Dragon Boat Festival, see their web site - http://www.cdbf.org and FaceBook page - https://www.facebook.com/codragonboat
