Hi dearest friends & family,

To those that have donated, she sends HUGE thank yous. Herein is the heartfelt evidence of Sati’s B-day Ballet Fund:

Our Sati had a momentous 2019 being cast in the Nutcracker with the San Diego Symphony as “The Doll” in the Battle Scene & as a “Polichinelle” in the Mother Ginger Scene. For those that inquired about her shows & made it out, an endearing thank you from her. She took the opportunity very seriously. The California Ballet School highly recommended her to the Non-Profit Ballet Company’s Director of the Nutcracker, Jared Nelson, expressing the motivation & maturity she possessed to handle two roles, even at 5 years old. Her teacher, Ms. Brenda, disclosed that in all the years she’s worked at the California Ballet School, she’s never seen someone that young take on two roles.

Needless to say, the hours were intense & demanding, but Sati felt & knew she was part of something special. She never complained. On one of the sold-out Saturday night performances she was accidently trampled by “the Teddy Bear,” a boy, who couldn't see her very well through his mask. She popped right back up & went on with the scene; no tears during & none after. She shared with us later in a matter-of-fact manner, “I just had to keep going!” That's one dedicated little lady!

And when she got sick two days before Christmas, she pleaded with us to not pull her out of her last two performances because it meant that much to her to finish. We have a video of her expressing, “The show must go on!” in her bath robe & turbie towel while getting ready for her final performance. Ha, what a trooper.

She made indelible memories & connections during that entire season of rehearsals & performances—some two in a day! Oh, & then there was the bonding dynamic that developed over the season with the prima ballerinas, male dancers, & the endless hours back stage with the other students. The emotion she experienced dancing with a live orchestra to her steps & the audience’s engagement had her on her toes (pun intended). She displayed the utmost professionalism & connected with the patrons & theatre staff that recognized her 'tiny but mighty' spirit in the San Diego Civic Center lobby post the shows. She’d pose for a picture & give a curtsy. All of these experiences combined were just so, so incredible for her young mind & multiple forms of development. This fund helped to make her dream into a GIANT dreamy reality.

Sati will continue more of these ballet dreams when it is safe to return to the campus soon. As for now, she is still a diligent student, continuing her classes with her peers & instructors temporarily via Zoom. Your contributions to her 6th Birthday Ballet Fund will SIGNIFICANTLY assist, as a 6-month collaborative gift, towards her quarterly tuition, annual registration, required class attire, costuming, & production fees as she enters her 3rd year at the California Ballet School this summer.

With fondness, love, & gratitude,

Kimberly, Timothy, & Sati
