Welcome Everyone to our Plumfund for Ben's Paternity Leave!
As you may or may not know, in the good old US of A, we don't have a Federally mandated paternity leave policy, nor even a maternity leave policy, and new parents are just kind of expected to get right back to work after the birth of a new baby.
Ben got a new job this year (HOORAY!) and while he loves the company he works for, he hasn't yet worked there long enough to save up the paid time off necessary for a newborn. Which can be up to a month. We really don't know yet how the birth is going to go. Could be great. Could be really rough. So we decided about a month would be a good guess.
Some companies have paid paternity leave, but it's rare. So we're going to try to carve out some paternity leave for Ben to spend up to a month at home to take care of Kelly and Franceszka as both of them recover from the experience of birth.
This would cover what we need for the month that Ben would lose out on by just taking unpaid time off from work.
If you can help us out, we'd really appreciate it. The more you contribute, the more time Ben can spend at home taking care of his recovering wife and new baby!
